A Big CE Welcome to Eric Johnson

SAN ANTONIO, TX -  The Classics Elite Soccer Academy (CE) is proud to announce that Eric Johnson will be joining the coaching staff as the CE Boy’s Director of Coaching.  Eric brings a wealth of coaching experience to CE having coached for 25 years in both the youth and collegiate game.

Eric has been coaching in the South Texas soccer community for over a decade with San Antonio City (formerly Lonestar – San Antonio) and the Houston Express.  While with the Houston Express, Eric served as the Assistant Director of Coaching for 8 years.  During his tenure the club saw tremendous growth in numbers and great success on the field, including Eric’s teams, which won numerous STYSA, NPL, Premier League, and President’s Cup state championships.

Previous to his successes at Houston Express, Eric worked as a staff coach and later as the Boy’s Director for the Jackson Futbol Club in Jackson, MS.  While his main objective was player development his teams also accomplished a great deal, including:  9 state championships; 3 Region III quarterfinal appearances; and 3 USYSA Premier League Championships.  In addition, Eric was selected as the Coach of the Year for the Mississippi State Association in 2006.

Prior to working with the Jackson Futbol Club, Eric was the men’s assistant coach at his alma mater, Belhaven College.  He also served as the men’s and women’s assistant at Bethel College, the men’s and women’s assistant at Mid-Continent College, and the men’s assistant coach at The University of Missouri – St. Louis.

Eric attended Belhaven College where he obtained his BS in Psychology and played his collegiate soccer.  Eric was the team captain and an All- Conference selection his junior and senior year and an All-Region selection his senior year.  After his collegiate playing career Eric played semi-professionally in the USL and A-League.  When his playing career ended Eric obtained his Master’s of Education at the University of Missouri – St. Louis.

CE Director of Coaching, Aaron Metzger, states  “We are beyond excited to have Eric join our staff.  Eric has extensive experience in the game as a player, a youth & college coach, a Director of Coaching, and as a parent.  He has a proven track record of player development and team success, which is why he has been such a well-respected member of the South Texas soccer community and beyond for so many years.  Eric is a massive addition to our staff and he will be an integral part of the club’s leadership.  As the Classics Elite Soccer Academy’s Boy’s Director of Coaching, Eric will lead all aspects of the boy’s program, in addition to coaching a couple of teams.  We couldn’t be happier about welcoming Eric and his family to CE.”

Eric currently lives in San Antonio with his wife Kori K. Stiefvater Johnson and their 3 children; Declan (12), Tierney (10), and Fallyn (8).
