Welcome Ben Loney to our Staff

Ben Loney joins the Classics Elite Soccer Academy’s Coaching Staff

San Antonio – The Classics Elite Soccer Academy are happy to announce that Ben Loney, previously the Director of Coaching for the Boerne Soccer Club and FC Thunder, will be joining their coaching staff.

“We are thrilled to have Ben join the Classics Elite coaching staff.” said Director of Coaching Aaron Metzger.  “Ben has a proven track record of player development and professionalism and is a well-respected leader in the South Texas soccer community.  Ben will be an influential member of our staff and I am excited about the positive impact Ben's experience and quality will bring to the CE families, players and coaches.”

Ben’s background includes playing professional soccer in England as a youth player, followed by a four-year period of service in the British Army as an infantry soldier. Upon leaving the Army in 2003, Ben worked (voluntarily) with local clubs coaching youth and adult soccer players. After this Ben spent a year abroad in Spain concentrating on his coaching progression, during which time he earned his first coaching qualification with the English Football Association. After returning to the UK for further qualifications, he then headed to the United States in 2005 to pursue a career in coaching soccer. After two years coaching in numerous states throughout the country, Ben settled in San Antonio after meeting his wife. Ben first coached for Twynham Rangers in England and Alamo Heights in San Antonio before his appointment as the Academy Director and Club Director of NB Ajax Soccer Club (formally known as Rapids Soccer Club) and then was appointed the Director of Coaching for the Boerne Soccer Club and FC Thunder.  Ben holds the USSF “A” License, the National Youth License, the NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, and the English FA Level 2.

“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to come to Classics Elite and help grow what is already a great club with a great history.  I believe I have the knowledge and skill set to advance the program and achieve big things on and off the field of play.  We all want our players to grow but coaches need to grow too, I can’t wait to learn from the top coaches that Classics boast.  There are some exciting times ahead for soccer in the SA area, and I want to be part of it.”, says Loney.

Ben and his wife, Jennifer, live in Cibolo and have two daughters Emilia and Elliott-Grace.
